Information About Our Counselors 

We have received many enquiries regarding qualifications, credentials, and certifications of our counselors.  Our answer is essential in understanding how we have developed a successful email counseling service using new strategies.

The research and development that preceded the launch of our service in 2000 indicated that traditional qualifications in the counseling field, by themselves, were insufficient to provide a quality online counseling service.  These reasons include:

1. The potential for creating limiting beliefs with old technology. Email counseling required the development of new techniques not previously used in a face-to-face environment.
2. Online text-based counseling requires an extreme level of linguistic knowledge for the counselor to be successful.
3. The nature of the credentials can lead to expectations about the type or style of counseling received.
4. Negative associations or distrust in the general public as a result of fraud, incompetence, or abuse at the hands of professionals “qualified, credentialed, or certified”, yet ineffective on-line.

Our approach focuses on achieving tangible and quantifiable results without assigning labels to a person's issues. This requires thinking, training, and techniques that are “outside the box” and creating new tools to solve complex issues.

Our trusted counselors are trained in various counseling methodologies, which sometimes includes traditional credentials, but in all cases includes comprehensive education, training, knowledge, and skill.

Each jurisdiction in every country has different requirements for counselors.  Even where there are mandatory certification requirements, there are exceptions depending on the type of advice given.  As we provide counseling to people around the world through the Internet, our services are not subject to any one particular certification regulation.

Having said this, we do comply with qualification, credential, and certification requirements for the advice we provide, as required in the jurisdictions of our main offices, namely in the State of Florida, USA, and the Province of British Columbia, Canada.
